Lina Nüesch - Näf lived with her family in St.Galler Rheintal, Switzerland. This pictures was taken in summer 1928. The family always loved the nature.

The hotel "Bad Balgach" (Bath Balgach) was traditionally in 1928 a spa- and health resort. Guests became hungry during the visit so the family started to serve food and wine. That was the start of a long successful history. Even today the house still exists and belongs to the family.

At the beginning of the 20th century our Grand-grand father started to plant Pinot Noir grapes. After producing the wine, it has been stored in wooden barrels and distributed by a horse carriage to customers in the area. The entire family was committed to the production of wines until today.

Our adventures ancestors, including Lina, travelled with the horse carriage over the alps to Italy to buy more choices of wine to sell it afterwards to their customers in Switzerland. Even at this time Italian wines have always been popular in Switzerland.

Our Grand-grand father Emil unfortunately died with 59 years. Lina was a very strong women and was able to manage the business all by herself.

Lina worked in the company until she died. She was over 100 years old. She experienced all new development of technologies and was always open for it. With 98 years she even started to learn how to use a computer. She was known as hard working, passionate and very precise.

Lina was also the first women driving a car in the area. Her car, which came out of a rare Swiss production, called “Turicum” and is still to see in the Historical Museum in St. Gallen, Switzerland. The car was build in 1907.
