The highest accolade to enter in a ‘confrèrie’ is a sign of Friendship and gratitude. Tieni Masüger, being an Oenologist, has been travelling regularly around the world, visiting and working with many wine suppliers. Through his work and his knowledge he has been recognized as a professional wine trader. He became a member of many wine brooder hoods. Some of them are mentioned below.

History

Around 1650 young aristocrats at the court of Louis the XIV, amongst whom were Mortemart, Ollonne, Brousse and the satirist Saint-Evremont, founded an elegant academy dedicated to good wines. They were all famous wine connoisseurs and particularly fond of the champagne wines from the three “coteaux” (hillsides) Ay, Avenay and Hautvillers. Hence the name given to this association “Ordre des Coteaux”. It disappeared shortly before the revolution. In 1956 a group of “champenois” led by Roger Gaucher and Francois Tatittinger in particular, who did the historical research, decided to revive the original “Ordre des Coteaux”. The first champagne firms to open their doors to the new order were Taittinger, Laurent-Perrier, Mercier and Mumm.

One of the oldest brotherhood (fraternity) is the “Chevalier des Tastevin”. In the beginning of the 30s an economic crisis in Burgundy prevails, despite the large wine classes 1929, 1933 and 1934. The establishment of these confraternity in the dark arch of the “Caveau Nution” in Nuits St. George was a ray of hope in dark time. It is considered as successor liability of the confraternity Bachiques from the end of 18th Century. In the Clos Vouget the enthronements took place.

The traditional Swiss-Bernese Wine store “Grossenbacher AG”, founded in 1823,  made a name for itself with the import of French wines, particularly from Beaujolais and Burgundy. The small order is an honor for special achievements of customers and co-workers.

St. Emilion, which is in the heart of Bordeaux is completely built on soft lime rock. This confraternity celebrates the acceptance of his members in an underground dedicated church, which is all carved in stone. The brotherhood is one of the oldest in Bordeaulais. The enthronement has taken place in 20.10.1981. 004

These degustation- and drinking shells are made out of pure silver. They are held with the thumb of the right hand. Little wine is filled in. The wine tester swivels the bowl gently, so that small burbles develop around the exaltations of the bowl. Thus smell and flavour materials rise from the wine, so that the wine tester can smell these with he’s nose. The silver is hygienic and the candle light of the set up candles is reflected in the curvatures, so that the “Chef de Cave” (cellar master) can judge also the color of the wine optimally. It is important, in order to judge the stage of development and the further steps of treatment of the wine.
